Kevin Haas : ‘Chicago Scribed’ (Photogravures)

This series of eight prints uses photographs taken in the city of Chicago through the plexiglass found on public transit shelters, covered with graffiti, dirt and other detritus. The interference of the dust, graffiti and scratches reaffirms both the 2-D surface of the print itself and the separation of the photograph from experience, locating representation within the realm of memory.
