“When modern day archeologists discover the most trivial of artifacts from an ancient civilization, they are able to deduce from them enormous meaning regarding that civilization. And so it is, I believe, with the artifacts of our own civilization: they embody enormous meaning about our lives and our culture. We just don’t see them that way because they are so common to our experience. But the meaning is there just the same.”
